Biology

Sobble is a small, timid, chameleon-like Pokémon, standing at 12 inches (0.3 m) tall and weighing 8.8 pounds (4 kg). It can camouflage itself, blending into its surroundings when exposed to water.

Sobble frequently cries when nervous, embarrassed, or upset, which can both cause it to become transparent and cause those around it to start crying in return, in order to distract opponents and escape conflict; its tears are said to be as potent as 100 onions. It evolves into Drizzile, then Inteleon.

Design & origin

Sobble was designed to be a timid Pokémon in order to provide a contrast with the other starter Pokémon in Sword and Shield, Grookey and Scorbunny; the designers intentionally made it more subdued to complement the "more energetic" Scorbunny and the "mood-maker" Grookey, and considered its meek personality unusual for a starter Pokémon.
