Biology
Following an event of allopatric speciation, Shellos and Gastrodon have been divided into two visually different forms based on their habitat, the temperature of their water, and their diet. Normally a friendly species, they ooze a sticky fluid, thought to be a form of sweat, when bothered. They can go on land for short periods of time, but have to go back to water to keep themselves hydrated.
Forms
West Sea Shellos
West sea Shellos live in warmer water.
East Sea Shellos
East sea Shellos live in colder water.

About its forms: Forms only affect appearance. A form is determined before a wild encounter based on whether the battle is in western or eastern Sinnoh, or inherited from the mother when breeding, and cannot be changed.
Found in abundance on seashores bordering warm waters. Shellos are unexpectedly friendly and will crawl toward any person they see. Take care not to get coated in mucus!
Legends: ArceusSubjecting this Pokémon to a strong force causes it to secrete a strange purple fluid. Though harmless, the fluid is awfully sticky.
ShieldThis Pokémon’s habitat shapes its physique. According to some theories, life in warm ocean waters causes this variation to develop.
SwordWhen it senses danger, a purple liquid oozes out of it. The liquid is thought to be something like greasy sweat.
Ultra MoonWhile they normally live in the sea, they can function on land, too, until their skin dries out.
Ultra SunPurple mucus sticks to the hands of anyone who touches it. Take care, as the substance is troublesome to wash off.
MoonFor the most part, it makes its home along the seashore. Its color and form differ according to its habitat and the quality of its food.
SunIts shape and coloration vary, depending on its habitat.
HeartGold · SoulSilver · Y · Alpha SapphireBeware of pushing strongly on its squishy body, as it makes a mysterious purple fluid ooze out.
Platinum · Black · White · Black 2 · White 2 · X · Omega RubyIt lives along bodies of water. Its body shape has changed to suit its habitat.
PearlIts colors and shapes differ from region to region. In the Sinnoh region, two types are confirmed.
