Biology

Murkrow is a small, black, crow-like Pokémon. It is considered an omen of misfortune; it is known to steal objects that sparkle, such as jewellery. Murkrow can evolve into Honchkrow.

Design & origin

Murkrow's design is partly based on European witches, with a head in the shape of a witch hat and a tail akin to a broom, giving the appearance of a witch in flight. It may also be based on the carrion crow and the yellow-billed chough. Its Japanese name, Yamikarasu, combines "yami" (dark) and "karasu" (crow), while its English name combines "murky", "murder" (a group of crows) and "crow".
