About DexDB
DexDB is an independent, unofficial fan project: a Pokédex for Pokémon Champions and every main-series game, built from public datasets and rebuilt every day.
What it is
A page for each of the 1,025 Pokémon and for their Megas, regional forms and other forms that battle differently, with base stats, type matchups, every move by game, Pokédex entries and sprites. Around them sit pages for moves, items, abilities and types, the Pokémon Champions usage rankings, a team builder and a damage calculator.
How the pages are made
A program generates every page from named datasets: PokéAPI for species, stats, moves by game, Pokédex entries and sprites; Pokémon Showdown’s data for what Pokémon Champions allows and changed; Smogon’s usage stats from Showdown battles; and Pokémon Champions Battle Data for the game’s own ranked ladder. The numbers come from those; the explanations around them, the glossary and the biology notes are written by us, crediting Wikipedia where it’s used.
The site rebuilds every day. The in-game ladder ranks update daily, Smogon’s stats once a month, and everything else is downloaded again every week. Each page says at the bottom when it last changed.
Pokémon Champions and the other games
Pokémon Champions numbers are marked as such: whether a Pokémon is usable in Regulation M-C (231 species are), its rank on the in-game ladder, stats at level 50 with Stat Points and Stat Alignment, Mega Evolution, and the moves Champions changed. Smogon’s stats come from Pokémon Showdown, a fan-made simulator, so they’re labelled apart from the game’s own ladder.
Everything else covers the main series from Red and Green on: moves by game, Pokédex entries, where to find each Pokémon, and sprites from every generation.
