How to read usage stats
A usage number is the share of teams that bring a Pokémon, and it only means something once you know whose teams and when.
Where the numbers come from
- In-game ladderThe game’s own ranked battles, updated daily. It ranks Pokémon; it doesn’t split by Poké Ball or Master Ball tier.
- Smogon · ShowdownBattles on Pokémon Showdown, a fan-made simulator, once a month. A different crowd from the game’s ladder.
- TournamentsOfficial events’ top cuts, with the teams players brought.
How to read one
- A shareOn Showdown and in tournaments, how many teams bring a Pokémon, not how often it wins. The in-game ladder gives ranks instead.
- What’s countedA tournament counts each team once. Showdown counts a team once per battle.
- Sample sizeFew teams means a wide range. DexDB shows the 95% range and marks thin numbers.
- Rating levelsOn Showdown a level weights each team by its player’s rating. It’s a weighting, not a tier.
- Whose and whenEvery number names its source and day or month. The sources are never added together.
