Biology
Known as the "Evolution Pokémon", Eevee is a mammalian creature with brown fur, a bushy tail that has a cream-colored tip, and a furry collar that is also cream-colored. It has brown eyes, big ears, and pink paw pads.
Eevee has an unstable genetic code with an irregularly shaped genetic structure, which allows it to evolve into one of eight different Pokémon, known as Eeveelutions, depending on the situation: Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Espeon, Umbreon, Leafeon, Glaceon, and Sylveon.
Its unstable genes also allow it to adapt to most habitats, and even to its trainer, to the point of eventually adopting a face similar to theirs. Eevee is mostly found in highly populated areas like cities and towns.
Design & origin
Series creator Satoshi Tajiri wanted to include a Pokémon that could evolve into multiple different types. Designer Motofumi Fujiwara stated "I wanted to create a blank slate Pokémon"; its design draws upon his vague childhood memories, including an instance where he became lost in a forest and "encountered an undefinable creature".
Called Eievui in Japan, it was originally going to be named Eon in English, but was renamed "Eevee" shortly before the English releases.
Forms
Gigantamax Eevee
Gigantamax Eevee has become much larger, and sports a much larger fur collar and a much fluffier tail. Its signature G-Max Move is G-Max Cuddle.
